WHAT is asthma? WHAT causes asthma? WHO gets asthma?

To say there is total confusion about this condition we call asthma would be an understatement if you were to judge from the recent years’ research papers below.

Is it just possible there is an underlying cause that is being either ignored or has not yet been recognized?

Prof. Konstantin Buteyko, after a lifetime devoted to research into respiratory function in health and disease concluded this factor was simply chronic hidden hyperventilation (CHH).

Perhaps the most significant paper below is that from the Lancet that suggests it might be wise to scrap the term “asthma” for this very reason.
Recent research in New Zealand is indicating that up to 50% of asthma sufferers are misdiagnosed.

The link between CHH and the symptoms suffered by patients has been demonstrated to the millions who have learned to take better control of their breathing either by individual efforts, by respiratory physiotherapy training, by use of the Papworth method or in particular by all those who have been taught the Buteyko Method.

Every month more are added to the above list but we get no better understanding or better management of this seemingly unbelievably complex condition.
